Borrowing Library Materials & Library 2 U
A wealth of information resources are available to you through the library. In addition to our electronic materials, we have physical items such as books, print journals, and DVDs you may borrow. Use the navigation below to learn more about how to borrow materials from the library and have them delivered to your office through Library 2 U.
TheÌýLibrary 2 UÌýservice from Kaplan Family Library provides library-to-office delivery of library materials to faculty, staff, and administrators at Â鶹ɫÇ鯬. Items are delivered no later than the next business day.
There are 3 ways to place aÌýLibrary 2 UÌýrequest:
Complete theÌý.Ìý (Use a separate request form for each item.) Call the Check-out Desk at 845-569-3600. Pick up a print copy of the request form at Kaplan Library and submit your request in person or via campus mail.
IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING DELIVERY - Items cannot be dropped off unattended.Ìý Someone must be available to receive and sign for them, whether this is the requester or another college employee.Ìý If no one is available when an item is delivered, the item will be returned to the library.Ìý The requester will be contacted to arrange another delivery time.
The return of library materials is the responsibility of the borrower.Ìý There are multiple return boxes inside Kaplan Library, including one at the base of the main stairs which is accessible 24/7 during the regular semester.Ìý In addition, there is a return box on the plaza outside the main entrance of the Dominican Center.

Currently employed Â鶹ɫÇ鯬 faculty and staff have full borrowing privileges at the Kaplan Family Library and the Curriculum Materials Center. A valid MSMC ID card is required to check out library materials.
The loan periods for items vary. A faculty person may check out books for six months, while the loan period for DVDs and audiobooks is generally shorter. The lending institution determines loan periods for interlibrary loan items.
Faculty may borrow up to 100 items concurrently. Library books generally circulate to faculty withÌýborrowing periods of six months. An additional two 6-month renewals are permitted for each item.Ìý
Renewals
Library materials (other than reserve items) can be renewed eitherÌýÌýor in-person at the library. Reserve items may only be renewed in person.
Overdue Fines
The library has instituted a "fines free" policy for most materials. However, fines may still be charged for overdue Interlibrary Loan and Reserve items.Ìý
Courtesy notices are e-mailed to library users about four days ahead of when regular items are due. The notices permit borrowers to renew items online immediately.
Library users may check their fine status online byÌý.

Lost and Damaged Items
Borrowers are responsible for replacement costs for lost or damaged library materials. Replacement charges typically amount to $40 per item, plus a $10 processing fee. Contact the Check-out Desk at Ìý845-569-3600 to find out the replacement cost for a specific item.
