Raja R. Amar

Raja R. Amar is an accomplished CEO, entrepreneur, and community leader with more than 25 years of experience in driving business growth, organizational excellence, and community engagement. He is recognized for his visionary leadership, board governance experience, and a proven ability to align strategy with mission-driven goals. Amar is passionate about education, workforce development, and fostering opportunities that benefit both businesses and communities.

Since founding the company in 1999, Amar has served as the CEO and President of The Portables Choice Group, LLC / Portables Unlimited, Inc., where he built one of the largest T-Mobile National Distributors. In this role, he directed financial management to ensure organizational sustainability, and led mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships to expand the company’s market presence. He has also been the CEO and President of Hudson Valley Country Club, LLC since May 2023, where he provides executive oversight and implements long-term strategies for revitalization and sustainability. His professional experience also includes serving as CEO and President of Tricom Communications and Sales Manager for Littman Jewelers.

In addition to his corporate roles, Amar has a strong record of community and board leadership. He is currently a board member of the Rockland County Industrial Development Agency, the Rockland County Board of Ethics, and Meals on Wheels. He also serves as a board member for the Director’s Advisory Council for M&T Bank/Wilmington Trust. His past leadership roles include serving as a trustee on the Nyack Hospital Board of Trustees, serving as a board member for the Rockland Economic Development Corporation Council, and serving as a council member of T-Mobile’s Retail and Wholesale Advisory Council. His contributions have been recognized with honors like the Entrepreneur of the Year from the Rockland Economic Development Corporation in 2009 and being named to Rockland County’s 40 Under 40 list in 2005. He is fluent in both Hindi and English.

 

Charles L. Flynn, Jr., PhD

Charles L. Flynn, Jr. is the President Emeritus of the University of Mount Saint Vincent, where he served as a professor of history and president from 2000 until 2021. During his tenure, the college’s undergraduate enrollment grew from 856 to more than 2,000 students, and the institution’s endowment increased from $3 million to nearly $50 million. He also balanced the budget for 20 of his 21 years, all while investing more than $100 million into new construction and renovation of the university’s physical plant. Prior to his presidency, Flynn held various academic leadership positions, including Provost at Assumption University (formerly Assumption College), Associate Provost at Adelphi University, and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College at Hanover College. 

A distinguished historian and member of Phi Beta Kappa, Flynn is the author of White Land, Black Labor: Caste and Class in Late Nineteenth-Century Georgia. He also co-edited the award-winning volume, Race, Class, and Politics in Southern History, which was named an outstanding book on human rights in 1990. His work extends to numerous articles and other publications.

Flynn has a long history of service on various professional and community boards. His current service includes being a trustee at Avila University. His past leadership roles include serving on the boards of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU), the Charter High School for Law and Social Justice, and the Grace Institute. He received a bachelor’s from Hamilton College and a Master’s and Ph.D. in History from Duke University. He has been honored with awards such as the Sagamore of the Wabash, Kentucky Colonel, and the Ellis Island Medal of Honor for his community service.

 

Michael Oates

Michael Oates is the President and CEO of the Hudson Valley Economic Development Corporation (HVEDC), a role he has held since June of 2018. He was recruited by the board to refocus the organization’s mission and economic development strategy. In this position, he manages economic development project leads for seven counties in the Hudson Valley: Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Orange, Rockland, Sullivan, and Ulster. His responsibilities also include managing the organization’s fundraising efforts, recruiting board investors, and building strategic partnerships with key regional stakeholders like Empire State Development and Scenic Hudson. He focuses on a cluster development strategy that includes biotech/life sciences, advanced manufacturing, and hospitality and tourism.

This is his second time leading the HVEDC, having previously served as President and CEO from 2009 to 2013. During his first term, he created NY’s BIOHUD Valley, a consortium of more than 90 biotech companies, and the Hudson Valley Food and Beverage Alliance. Before rejoining HVEDC, he was a managing partner at Bellefield Development Partners, LLC, and the CEO of Hudson River Ventures, a small business investment fund. At Hudson River Ventures, he helped create the Hudson Valley Advanced Manufacturing Center and the nation’s first MakerBot Innovation Center at SUNY New Paltz.

Oates has been recognized with numerous awards, including being named to the  City and State’s 2024 Hudson Valley Power 100 and receiving the Economic Development of the Year Award for BIOHUD Valley from Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress in 2012. He currently serves on the boards of Abilities First, Scenic Hudson, and Pattern for Progress. He was appointed to the New York State Tourism Advisory Council by Governor Hochul in 2024. Oates earned a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Political Science from Siena College.
